Happy Birthday Haruka

Part two

Ruka

AN: I’m so happy you guys wanted to read the sequel to it! I really didn’t think it was that good but apparently it is if you all want to read it so bad, I’m so happy ^^. And since this is a sequel, I don’t have to write a disclaimer! Yeah! And if I really do have to, I still say that since this is a sequel, that’s a good, enough reason for me not to write a disclaimer. Also you should read the first one before reading this one, other wise good luck understanding some of it.  Okay enough with this boring stuff and here we go ^^.  Oh and with it being so long (10 years) they still look like they do and all, they aren’t old and wrinkly just to inform you! Ruka is 27 and Michiru is 26.

Ten Years Later

Haruka brushed back the sweat from her forehead as she continued to fight among the men in the training hall. The score was 21 to 0, Haruka being the 21. She had fought so much lately, never wanting to give in, to lose, to fall back to the pain of losing…. losing the thing so important to her.

She forced back tears that pricked her eyes, and punched the older man, unfortunately for the man; he fell back, coughing up a little blood. With a smile and a slight bow, showing she had won, he backed off to go train somewhere else. Haruka took a deep breath and collapsed to her knees, the pain was over whelming, it burned inside of her; it burned as she breathed, as she lived.

“ Haruka!” A voice called out to her, Haruka turned her weak head towards the person who had called her name. A faint smile graced her lips as she forced herself to stand; she took a few weak steps toward the young, dark haired woman.

“ Hey, Mokoto, what brings you here?” Her voice was faint as she sat down on a bench, waiting patiently for an answer.

“ I thought I’d catch up on my physical strength, I don’t have a lot of time now with the shops and all.” Mokoto explained softly as she sat down next to Haruka.

‘That’s right; Mokoto got her dream to start. She has her own bakery and flower shop going now’ Haruka thought to herself, she smiled weakly. ‘ Well at least one of the scouts is doing okay.’ “Yes well I suppose that’s not that bad of an idea, of course though you don’t want to overdue it.” Haruka said gently. She stood up to go.

“ Won’t you stay for a little while? I could use the help.” Mokoto urged. She was sitting there smiling, maybe even pleading for Haruka to stay.

Haruka shook her head firmly,” No I really can’t.” She said. With no more then that, she turned on her heels and walked out, grabbing her bag full of her normal clothes on the way out.

******

She collapsed on the bed, sinking into the silk covers, her sore body glad to be home, glad to be in a surrounding area, which was actually safe. She soon drifted off into a deep sleep listening to the clock in her room tick back and forth.

She stirred in her sleep, her eyes opening slowly focusing on the clock before her. She sighed and she forced herself to sit up, her hand fumbled with the clock to take hold of it. When she finally managed to do this task, she brought it close to her and looked, she sighed again as she looked at the time. 12:30. “ Well there goes half of my day,” She mumbled.

She placed the clock back down gently and got out of bed, making it quickly. She rubbed the back of her head as she walked down the hall of her place, heading towards the bathroom. She grabbed a towel and threw it down on the ground by the bathtub, starting the water she took her clothes off and got in. She leaned her head against the cold tile and let the warm water hit her back, pressing her hair down. The water rolled over her still sore body relaxing it with its steady beats against her back.

She got out, wrapping the towel around her soaking wet body, making her way to the her bedroom. She dried her hair and took out a pair of jeans along with a white shirt. She threw the clothes on and brushed her hair quickly. She glanced in the mirror, smiled slightly and walked out of the room grabbing her black jacket. On her way to the door she grabbed the keys to her car and headed out.

She sped across the road, the wind blowing her hair she parked the car after a few minutes of driving and jumped out of the driver’s seat leaving the top down. She sighed and began to walk towards the coffee shop across the street from were she had parked. Her eyes glanced around at the happy couples around her and a faint smile appeared on her face. Tears pricked at her eyes as the image of a young aqua-haired woman, well young woman, appeared in her head. She took a deep breath and pushed the image away, that was ten years ago, she was going to get over this. She glanced away hoping to find something that would take her mind off of this pain, her eyes scanned the windows of the shops as she walked, reading quickly over some of the flyers that were on the window. She read one more quickly, dropping down to the name of the person; she grew tired and looked away not taking in all she had read. After a moment or two of walking, she stopped and grew tense.

Slowly, almost uncertainly, she turned on her heals and walked back to were the flyer was. She stopped in front of the store window and read over the flyer carefully, it read:

                                                                      Michiru Kaou.

Haruka’s heart skipped a few beets as she read over the flyer, her eyes coming back to the exact same spot, the woman’s name. “ Michiru…” She whispered. * No that’s impossible, she wouldn’t be alive she couldn’t be alive! Besides she’d come to find me if she was alive, but I did move…* Haruka was right, she had moved. Michiru’s mansion was left to Haruka in her will she had turned it down and found her own place.

Haruka’s heart was pounding in her chest, her head was swirling as she stood still, pale and to the point of collapsing. She finally snapped back to reality and glanced around frantically, she ran to the shop and strait to the counter.

“ Hello, how can I help you?” A young woman asked as she looked at Haruka.

“ The flyer out there, is there anymore tickets left?” Haruka asked frantically.

“ Um, I’m not sure…” She turned from Haruka and walked into the back room.

Haruka took a few deep breaths and waited impatiently, her fingers drumming against the counter before her. After what seemed lie an eternity (was only 3 minutes) the woman walked out again holding a ticket. She handed it to Haruka who thanked her and ran off jumping into her car and heading home.

******

“ Ticket please,” A man asked stopping Haruka from walking in, she stopped and took out the ticket giving it to the man. “ Thank you.” The man said and walked away.

Haruka took a deep breath and tried to calm herself, her hands were shaking, her legs felt as if they would go out on her any moment now, she made her way to the bathroom of the theater and walked in. She was relieved to find that no one was in their, she walked to were the sinks were and the huge mirror. Surprisingly on how nervous she was, she looked perfectly fine. She wore black slacks and a white button down long sleeved shirt. She brushed a shaking hand threw her hair and walked out, finding a seat in the back row. * Come on Haruka don’t get your hopes up this might not even be her* Haruka thought to herself as she sat nervously in her chair.

In minutes the theater had filled and there was no empty seats, the lights dimmed and the few people who were talking stopped immediately, all eyes were on the stage. A few seconds later a young man walked out, his blonde hair was cut short and neatly combed, his blue eyes swept the crowd and he flashed a smile. He sat down and with no further looks to the audience he picked up the violin and played. Haruka smiled as she listened to the familiar peace, she had heard Michiru play it a few times, she had commented on it before.

The song ended and another went on. For hours the audience was silent, listening to the sweet music of the young male violinists. Haruka herself had begun to love his music and the way he played, she smiled and clapped softly as the man stood, bowed and walked off the stage. The curtains dropped, as a few people scurried out on the stage and began to move things around. Haruka smiled and began to get nervous again, drumming her fingers on the arm of her chair she watched and waited for the young woman violinists.

“ I heard she’s really good.” A soft voice whispered in Haruka’s ear.

The voice brought Haruka back to reality and she looked towards the person sitting next to her, she smiled, “ Yes, she is very good.”

“ Really, have you heard her before?” The woman asked, looking at Haruka with soft eyes.

* Let’s hope I’ve heard her before* she thought to herself, but instead said, “ Yes, I have actually.”

The woman nodded and turned away, looking to the stage as the lights dimmed again and the curtains were drawn. Haruka stopped drumming and looked to the stage as well, anxiously waiting for this Michiru to come.

“ Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the one who started this whole concert,” A voice said from the loudspeakers,  “Miss…Michiru Kaou.” The audience clapped softly, waiting for this woman’s arrival.

A woman stepped out on the stage, the spotlight moving on her. Haruka’s heart stopped pounding in her chest, her eyes widened as she looked at this woman, the way her aqua hair fell in soft waves around her neck and shoulders, the way her blue eyes seem to go on and on as she looked onto the crowd, the slenderness of her body under the white dress she wore. “Michiru…” Haruka whispered hardly finding the strength to say anything at all.

Michiru’s eyes swept the audience but never once fell on the pale Haruka, she smiled and closed her eyes for a moment then opened them, “I want to thank you all for coming here tonight, for the last song this evening I will playing my personal favorite, sea sky wind, is it’s name.”

The audience clapped for a second or two then stopped as they saw her taking out a glass violin, and she began to play, moving the bow with a rare ease, she was smiling her hair framing her beautiful face seeming to make it glow in the dim light. Haruka’s eyes were on her love all the time she played as the music flowed her, and she felt the safety and serenity that Michiru had tried in vane to explain to her before. The song ended sooner then any one would have liked, Michiru said a few more words to everyone then walked off the stage, the audience erupting in applause.

Haruka stood and half ran and half walked to the exit before any one else, she stopped a guard in the theater, “ Sir…when is Miss Kaou leaving the building?” She asked out of breath.

“ I’m sorry miss, but you missed her. She just left threw the back door.” The guard said looking at Haruka as she took in deep breaths of the air.

Haruka looked up, “What! She can’t leave, where is she going? You have to tell me, I love her!”

The guard laughed softly, “ Everyone loves her miss. I believe she’s going home.”

“ Where is it that she lives? You have to tell me!” Haruka said frantically waving her hands around to emphasize her point.

The guard laughed again, “Miss, even if I did give the address of her house, it wouldn’t matter you would never be able to go in and see her.”
“ I don’t care!” Haruka screamed in frustration, “ You don’t understand what I’ve been threw with out her in my life, you don’t understand what we’ve been threw! She loves me, I love her, we’re one, we were meant to be!”

The guard grew serious as he listened to Haruka speak, he sighed. “ Fine, but if you love miss Kaou as much as you claim to love her, then I’d advise you to write her a letter so when she says that she’s never meet you and that you’re only a loving fan to her, it won’t hurt as much threw a letter.”

“ Thank you,” Haruka said softly,” You don’t know how much this means to me.”

“ Yeah, yeah just don’t go telling everyone I did this you know. Her address is 489 pine lake rode, got that, 489 pine lake road.” The guard said.

“ 489 pine lake road.” Haruka said to herself, “ Yes. Thanks again!” Haruka called out as she ran out of the theater and to her house.

******

Michiru sat down on her bed as she brushed her hair softly she was holding back tears as she looked to the ground.

“ Michiru, is something wrong?” A soft voice asked.

Michiru looked up at the figure of her mother standing in the doorway, her blue hair pulled back in a bun. She looked worried, “ What is it darling? Did something happen at the concert?” she asked concerned. She walked softly over to where Michiru was sitting and sat next to her.

“ She…wasn’t there. Haruka wasn’t there, she’d come if she still loved me wouldn’t she?” Michiru asked her mother as she broke out in tears and hugged her.

“ She still loves you darling, what’s not to love? I’m sure she just couldn’t get a ticket.” Her mother said soft to Michiru, hugging her back. “ Don’t cry darling, you’ll find her.”

Michiru clung to her mother as she cried on her shoulder, her heart was aching and she was suffering both mentally and physically.

******

Haruka sat down and began to write a letter to Michiru. She paused and looked over what she had written, she let out a cry of frustration and crumpled it up throwing it into the trashcan by her bed. She took another sheet of paper and began to write, pausing she crumpled it up and threw it away. And again and again she did this, not seeming to find the right words to say.

Three hours later along with three baskets full of crumpled up envelopes and letters, Haruka looked up from her letter and read it over. She took a deep breath and sealed it in an envelope, running outside she stuck it in the mailbox.

When she got back she glanced at the clock, it read 12:30. Haruka sighed she really had to stop going to bed so late, it was starting to where down on her. She walked to her room tiredly and changed into her pj’s. Then slipping into bed she fell sound asleep.

When she awoke in the morning it was 10:30, she yawned and got out of bed walking to the kitchen. She made herself some toast, eggs, and bacon. Pouring herself a glass of water she took her food and sat down at the table. She ate in silence thinking of the letter she had sent earlier, she didn’t eat much her stomach had butterflies in it making it hard to eat anything. She took her dishes and placed them in the sink. She sighed and laid down on the couch, closing her eyes.

****

Michiru walked into her house closing the door softly behind her. She flicked on the lights and was glad to be back home, she loved her mother’s house it was beautiful, but she liked this one better. There was only one problem, it was huge and it was lonely at times, empty. She sighed as she remembered last night, she had held that concert in hope to find Haruka, and she hadn’t found her.

Michiru had been across the whole world in every big city in every state, in every country, and still she had not found her love. She brushed back her bangs and sat down the keys to her car on the counter, picking up the mail as well. She made her way over to the Kitchen, grabbed a bottle of red wine and walked to the couch.

She sat the bottle of wine down on the table before her and sat down on the couch, her gray cat jumping up on her lap, she smiled and stroked the cat. “ Let’s see,” she said softly as she flipped threw the stack of letters, “ Bill, bill, bill, fan, fan, fan…hmm.” She paused and looked at the last letter, “ Love.” She smiled, the sender’s address was clear to see, and it didn’t ring a bell. “ I’m sure it’s my “biggest fan”.” Michiru said with a soft laugh, everyone always said that.

She put the letter down and poured herself a glass of wine, moving the cat away from her lap. She sipped at the wine then placed it down again, picking up the letter she took another look at the sender’s name and laughed softly, “ Well we might as well have a look shouldn’t we?” she asked the cat.

“ Meow.” Was the reply as the cat snuggled closer to his owners lap, Michiru laughed and stroked him.

She tore open the letter and began to read slowly:

Dear Michiru,

Oh my love, my only love, I think about you now and my heart aches. I need to write this letter, I need to tell you how I feel. Just pray that there is enough strength in me. Enough strength so that I’ll actually send this off to you. You must know by now that I've done this a million times over the hours that I’ve been sitting here. I’ve begun letters, almost finished them, then thrown them away with out sending them to you.

When I saw you tonight, it was as if we were staring at each other from opposite sides of a window. So close yet so distant. We used to touch and kiss but ever since….well you know, I always thought that would never happen again, I always thought I would never have that comfort. And maybe I won’t maybe you don’t love me anymore.

I saw it in your eyes though, Michiru. And if you would have seen me there, I’m sure you would have saw it mine. Desire. Desire and a longing to be together like we were. I dream of that and it’s the only thing that seems to keep me going in a world that seems to have given up on me. Oh my dear, my love, if you were here then you could hold me in your soft arms. You could whisper sweet poetry in my ear like you used to do. Then the pain would go away. You could always make the pain go away.

I want you to rescue me, yes you. I don’t have the strength to rescue any one right now, not after what I’ve been threw. I want you to take me away from all of this and make me yours once again. My heart is telling me that I need to be with you, and though I don’t listen to my heart usually, I do tonight. I know you want to be with me to, or at least I hope. My heart will not be ignored so I will not give up on you, I will not be denied. I know you will not turn me away. Or at least I hope you will not.

When I close my eyes at night I can still feel your skin against mine, your soft hair falling around my face as you slept in my arms. We were made for each other, you and I. I can still see your face when any one mentions a violin or the ocean. Your blue eyes would stare threw me and make me go weak, I never grow weak, you seem to be the only one that can do that to me Michiru.

I have made so many mistakes in the past with you, love, and I will not make them again. I refuse to take all of the blame anymore though on what tore us apart from each other for so many years. You hold no bitterness now, I’m sure of it, your so kind and gentle, but with out the cold edge to it from fighting for so long, this was the way we were suppose to be. But I can still see the hurt in your eyes; I saw it tonight. You remember the past and it still hurts you, as it still hurts me. I’m sorry my love for being the cause of the pain in you. I want nothing more then to love you, I hope you know that.

I pray now that you can find it in your heart to forgive me for what I let happen to you. Come to my rescue, Michiru, like you were so willing to do long ago. Are you still the same way now? Oh I hope so!

I can’t bare the thought of life with out you; I have gone to long without you and can’t stand it. The world is wicked and nothing brings me pleasure anymore, nothing, not even racing. If you want me then write back, or come to me my love. Come to me and run your fingers threw my hair like you used to do so many times. Let me touch you to make sure I’m not dreaming. I will wait most patiently and most anxiously at the same time. Please, don’t let me down. Don’t break my heart into a thousand pieces. Come to me my love, and I will be better I swear. I will not ask on how you lived, I will not put you to that question, I am but only glad that you are alive, and I want to see you, I want you in my arms, Michiru.

Love eternally,

Haruka.

Michiru let the tears stream down her face as she read the letter. She folded it back up and clutched it to her chest, the tears falling on the envelope. “ Haruka,” She whispered as she laid down on the couch, clutching the letter still.

She awoke in the morning; in no time at all she was sitting at her table with a pencil and paper, Haruka’s letter by her side. She was thinking and quickly began to write.

******

Two Days Later

Haruka got out of bed and grabbed her robe, she ran to the mailbox as she attempted to put the damn thing on. She stopped and opened it up, taking the letters that were there out and ran back to her house. She placed the letters down and got herself a glass of water, drinking it. She refilled the glass and drank it down. With a deep breath she walked to were she had put the letters down, sitting down she looked at them. She came to the last one and smiled, the sender’s name was Michiru.

“ Thank you,” She whispered to herself.

Tearing open the letter she began to read:

Dear Haruka,

My heart wept when I read your letter. You have said everything that I have wanted to say to you for the past ten years. You were my first love as well, and I need you more then I think even you could imagine.

I can’t stand to be apart from you any longer. My heart is pounding in my chest and my heart races as I think of you. Ten years and I still desire you. You were my ‘wife’ and I want to reclaim you as my own, as my love. I want your lips on mine and your hands to tickle my skin like you used to. I want to kiss you as the sunrises and we are too weak to kiss anymore, and then we can lie together holding each other. I stare at my hands and I can see them pulling threw your hair. Yes I will whisper poetry in your ears, my breath will sooth you and caress your soft skin caring you off into sweet dreams of happiness and me.

What do I see when I look at you? Besides love and flowers and fields of grass and even the bright afternoon sun, I see the woman you were and still are. The woman that taunted me relentlessly and spoke boldly like a man. You weren’t afraid of anything, and you still aren’t. I’m so sorry for trying to break your spirit. I’m as much to blame as you are, I didn’t have to leave you but I did. Don’t put all the blame of our separation on yourself.

I’ve been living a lie all these years by denying my eternal love for you. You were the only woman meant for me. I love Setsuna and hope you will understand that I love her just as much as you, and need her as well. ((AN: what she means is, that she loves Setsuna just as much as Haruka but her love for Setsuna is a friendship love but just as strong as her love for Ruka, do you get me?)) She’s my closest friend, and you’re my angel. If you can’t accept that, then I’m sorry for you can’t accept me. I know you don’t mind, I know you know how much she is too me.

I have decided. We will be together. I will put this letter into the mail as a warning that I am coming to you, my love. I will come to you and we can make fantasy real. You can feel my lips again. We will set all questions and fears of the past behind us and live together forever. I will journey to the past and future but most of all to you, and the love that waits for me in your arms and eyes. I only hope I meet your expectations.

I can hardly wait. I will have sweet dreams of you tonight and begin my journey tomorrow. Time has changed me, my love. Time has changed you. I may not the woman you used to know, close to her but not quite. To many hard ships have come my way to be that girl, and I have grown older, 26 to be precise. I still cling to you though, that’s what keeps me sane in this world.

But we will move past everything that happened now. My eyes are open and reality is more real to me now then it ever was. I know it’s the same with you.

I come to you now, wait for me. I will be there soon. I will be there as soon and as fast as my car can go.

Love always and forever,

Michiru.

******

Haruka sat in her favorite velvet chair, her legs shaking with impatience and nervousness. She had received Michiru’s letter the night before and knew she would be here soon. She couldn’t stand it; the tension was so thick she wanted to scream. Every time she heard a noise she’d look expecting it to be Michiru.

It was a beautiful night, it had rained earlier and the ran was still on the leaves outside and the grass blades making everything shine. She wanted to be right here when she came, she wanted to see her walk threw the door.

If only she would come now!

To still her racing heart, she closed her eyes and took a few deep breaths inhaling the sweet scent of the outside her windows were open.

“ Calm down, Michiru will be here soon. Stop acting like a 13 year old with a crush, you know how Michiru is with that sort of things. Your 27, act like it. I’m suppose to be able to handle anything so why do I feel like I’m going to explode?” She whispered to herself, scolding her behavior.

“ Because you’ve been waiting for this moment for forever,” A soft voice said from in front of her.

Haruka gasped and opened her eye, “ Michiru!”

She shot up from her chair and ran to her. Michiru’s arms were open already and caught her with them, laying a sweet kiss on her cheek, Haruka nuzzling in her hair as they held each other. Michiru felt the tears start to come again but she didn’t care, Haruka had her and she had Haruka everything would be okay now. Haruka could ease her pain just as she could ease Haruka’s pain, She could make Haruka forget it all, and Haruka could make Michiru forget it all. Haruka loosened her grip on Michiru, Michiru sighed, oh how she wanted her to hold her forever.

Haruka looked into Michiru’s eyes and smiled as her hand brushed away her tears, “ My love, my Michiru, I can’t believe I’m looking into your eyes after all this time.”

Michiru nodded threw her vial of tears, trying to blink them out of her eyes desperately so she could stare at Haruka’s face, “I have you now, this isn’t a dream Haruka, I have you in my arms, this is reality.”

“ You have always had me, Michiru, even when we weren’t together. You have me now for the night if not forever.” Haruka said softly as she brushed back another tear that fell from Michiru’s face.

"Forever,” Michiru whispered back, a cold fear gripping her heart, "Do we have forever? How do we know that this won't end up like the past? That we won't leave each other again? How can we fool ourselves so easy! Oh, Haruka, we can't not fight, how can we stop ourselves from doing what we always do? How can we not do something that comes so easy? We are fools Haruka, no…no, I am the fool, this is all my-"

Haruka silenced her with a deep kiss. Michiru melted into her lover’s body at once, wrapping her arms around the taller girl. Haruka picked Michiru up and carried her over to a large dark blue sofa, placing her down gently as if she was a fragile peace of glass.

“ Michiru.” Haruka sighed as she sat down beside Michiru, she couldn’t believe she was there, sitting by her.

“ Don’t talk anymore love,” Michiru said quietly as she wrapped her arms back around Haruka,

“Just let me kiss you till the sun comes up like we said.” She whispered softly into her ear before kissing her.
